Project Engineer

Work Location Delicato Vineyards Manteca 

Position Purpose

The Project Engineer completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements. Works collaboratively to develop creative solutions to emerging problems with an awareness of the broader picture and operational and financial constraints. Provides troubleshooting, engineering and leadership expertise to solve chronic or acute operational issues that cannot be solved effectively at the technician level.

Functional Responsibility

Essential Duties

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Defines technical requirements, project specifications, and feasibility of assigned projects by studying product design, eliciting customer requirements and performance standards, completing technical studies, and preparing cost estimates
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans, conferring with management and subject matter experts from inside and outside of the company
  • Leads capital and non-capital projects by Executing, Planning, Initiating, Monitoring & Controlling and Closing project deliverables withing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk requirements utilizing PMBOK best practices
  • Monitors work of technical and nontechnical trades for compliance to applicable codes and relevant engineering best practices
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and recommends appropriate actions
  • Communicates project status, issues and changes regularly to key stakeholder
  • Coordinates project closure and Operational Readiness transition activities
  • Utilizes AutoCAD to develop drawings, options, construction plans, and project cost estimates
  • Works collaboratively with Procurement, Accounts Payable and key stakeholders to perform procurement activities in accordance to delegation of authority standards and company policies
  • Determines critical spare parts and/or back up resources to ensure continuity of operation for any new or modified equipment
  • Works on other projects as assigned by the Engineering Leadership team
  • Provides project management expertise to other teammates as necessary

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.), preferably in engineering, or equivalent years of experience
  • 5+ years experience with engineering, optimization, and improvement initiatives
  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in leading and managing projects
  • Experience in Food & Beverage, Winery Operations and packaging is a plus.
  • Familiarity with sanitary process piping installations and 3A sanitary standards

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, single-line diagrams, machine schematics, etc.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and manage projects
  • Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position 
  • Ability to understand process piping and P&ID documents as well as process automation installation and testing

 

Certificates and Licenses

  • Acceptable driving history with valid Driver’s License
  • Project Management Professional Certification preferred

Working Conditions

  • General engineering office work and site direct work
  • May be required to travel between facilities
  • Periodic exposure to noisy and dusty construction conditions
  • Required to drive automotive vehicle or equipment
  • Required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

​ California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is a Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $91,062.24 to $142,541.76. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
