Senior Sales Finance Analyst

Work Location Delicato Vineyards Napa 

Position Purpose

Acting on own initiative, the Senior Sales Finance Analyst supports the overall financial engagement of the assigned Sales division to help achieve financial goals and objectives. This includes participation in the annual planning and forecasting cycles, management of monthly financial reporting and analysis, and facilitation of periodic business reviews with the sales team. The Senior Sales Finance Analyst also supports accounting tasks, including monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and annual audit requests.  

Essential Duties

  • Tactical and process lead for the assigned sales territories’ strategic and annual plan, including managing planning templates, data loads, and reporting to ensure adherence to financial deliverables
  • Oversees quarterly sales forecasts for volume and operating expenses, and prepares detailed analysis supporting spend activity and variances to plan, by brand and zone
  • Creates and reports on detailed budgets and breakouts, complete with monthly calendarization of sales volume, pricing, revenue, cogs, expenses, and margins
  • Drives continuous improvement on planning, forecasting, and expense tracking processes, including providing recommendations and implementing solutions
  • Generates, analyzes, and distributes monthly reports to sales managers, including financial statements, sales trends, promotional activity, and expense tracking
  • Highlights key issues, helps identify risks and opportunities, and actively investigates any data anomalies or inaccuracies; communicates pro-actively and efficiently to Sales Managers and Finance leadership
  • Maintains key relationships and acts as a financial partner with VP of Sales, Sales Managers, Marketing, Sales Operations, and other functional management teams; works and thinks cross-functionally to ensure quality deliverables and information flow
  • Supports the month-end close process for Case Goods, including preparing financial journal entries, monitoring and reconciling assigned balance sheet accounts, and providing analysis to support positions
  • Coordinates with internal accounting functions and external accounting firm during mid and year-end annual audit cycles to ensure timely and accurate response to requests; provides process clarification and supporting documentation
  • Assists with Commercial Finance department projects and initiatives, including ad hoc projects and analysis supporting decision-making on key business issues
  • Conducts training and supports financial development of Sales Managers or team members of the Commercial Finance team

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; degree in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred 
  • 3 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis and management
  • Prior experience in wine or beverage alcohol business preferred
     

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expert computer skills with ability to report and analyze multi-dimensional data and complex information
  • Strong working knowledge of financial and managerial reporting
  • Must exhibit excellent communication skills, analytical skills and problem-solving ability 

Working Conditions

  • General office environment with occasional travel
  • Required to drive automotive vehicle or equipment
  • Exposure to varying levels of dust, chemicals, fumes, gases, and noisy equipment

​ California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is a Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $76,355.00 to $119,396.00. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
