Sales Finance Manager - DFW

Position Purpose

Acting on own initiative, the Sales Finance Manager leads the financial engagement of the sales divisions assigned to the Sales Finance Manager to help achieve financial goals and objectives. The Sales Finance Manager coordinates the annual planning cycle for the respective sales divisions, including annual plan and latest estimates as well as manages the processes and systems that support monthly accounting close and subsequent financial reporting. The Sales Finance Manager completes a comprehensive monthly business review process with Sales leadership, including identification and mitigation of risks and opportunities. This position also reviews and approves pricing changes in alignment with brand pricing guidelines and company objectives.

  • Manages employee attendance to ensure compliance with Company standards; approve/monitor overtime
  • Communicates and supports Company policies and decisions in a positive manner
  • Develops staffing needs, selects new employees, makes recommendations in job evaluation and compensation, recommends termination actions
  • Conducts team meetings with department employees; includes monthly safety topic, ISO, DOE and other applicable training
  • Handles employee issues, concerns, and complaints in an objective and confidential manner
  • Provides employees with a safe, comfortable, and rewarding work environment
  • Prepares and monitors department budget

Essential Duties

  • Acts as key thought partner to respective Sales senior leadership on day-to-day business management, including profit or market share opportunities, distributor financial issues, and ongoing risk or opportunity to the financial plan
  • Manages the annual planning process for sales divisions, including detailed breakouts of divisions and subordinate regions, complete with monthly calendarization of sales volume, pricing, revenue, cogs, expenses and margins; manages LE process as necessary
  • Reviews monthly business results with sales managers including financial statements, depletion trends and distributor inventory levels; ensures sales managers understand business results and collaborates on strategies to mitigate potential risks 
  • Helps develop sales manager financial acumen, including a focus on financial training and sound business management; reinforces key concepts of the company’s strategy
  • Oversees month end close and selling expense accrual process, requiring monthly collaboration with sales management and accounting
  • Reviews, approves, and suggests pricing changes in alignment with brand pricing guidelines, local market considerations and company objectives
  • Supports distributor management, including conducting comprehensive margin analysis, monitoring local market fund usage, and addressing financial risks with the distributor
  • Analyzes market data to understand local market conditions, supporting informed pricing decisions and volume forecasts
  • Reviews and approves promotional spending proposals (spend requests) to ensure effectiveness of spend and consistency with company objectives, including coupons, incentives and other promotional activities; conducts post-promotion analysis to determine effectiveness of promotional programs
  • Investigates and corrects anomalies or inaccuracies in financial data or results; facilitates ad hoc analysis as necessary
  • Maintains relationships and acts as a financial partner with sales managers and VP
  • Maintains relationships with various other functional management teams to ensure quality deliverables and information flow, including accounting, FP&A, Business Performance Management, Accounting, HR, the Chain Team, and Marketing
  • Enhances Delicato’s distributor relationships by helping manage distributor margins, incentives, and  promotional funds
  • Attends market surveys and/or distributor meetings to enhance understanding of local market practices

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; business, finance accounting or related field preferred  
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in accounting or financial management
  • 3 years leadership experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with sales and marketing programs, the three-tier distribution network, and shipment, depletion and scan data reporting and analysis  
  • Expert computer skills are required, with ability to report and analyze multi-dimensional data and complex information  
  • Must exhibit excellent communication skills, analytical skills and problem-solving ability

Working Conditions

  • General Office environment with occasional travel
  • Required to drive automotive vehicle or equipment
