Lead Tasting Room Attendant - Manteca

Position Purpose
Under general supervision of the Tasting Room Manager, the Lead Tasting Room Associate’s responsibilities include providing leadership and direction in the Tasting Room, coordinating point of sale materials and merchandise, processing transactions, and delivering exceptional customer service to guests visiting the Manteca Tasting Room.
Leadership and Team Culture
- Provides hands-on support, assigns daily tasks, ensures employees have proper tools and equipment, and monitors output
- Leads in a constructive manner by example; demonstrates and encourages a strong work ethic and fosters an environment of trust and respect
- Guides team in the proper use of assets and resources to avoid waste and ensure cost-effective operations
- Ensures clear communication amongst the team; follows-up on assignments to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Informs supervisor of staffing needs
- Ensures employees conduct themselves in a safe manner and that work areas are kept clean to prevent safety hazards; immediately reports safety issues and concerns to management
- Supports change initiatives and company decisions in an effective manner
- Communicates closely with supervisor regarding employee issues, concerns, and complaints in an objective and confidential manner
- Maintains company and regulatory compliance during day-day-operations and advises supervisor of any infractions; assigns and monitors employee breaks and lunches and provides backup relief
- Provides timely feedback to employees on a daily basis and informs supervisor of team/individual performance, recognition, training needs, deficiencies, etc.
Essential Duties
- Coordinates with leadership, including Tasting Room Manager, Operations Administrator, Wine Club, and Tasting Room Teams, on winery wide issues
- Handles customer issues, concerns, complaints in an objective and confidential manner and reports all issues to the Department Head
- With input from leadership - orders wines, merchandise, and supplies
- Opens and closes the Tasting Room as needed
- Updates Tasting Room bar menu information and redesigns as needed; ensures tasting room has all relevant and current Point of Sale (POS) materials available
- Performs Tasting Room hosting responsibilities
- Greets visitors and pour wines for customers according to procedures
- Describes wine, winemaking techniques, and winery history; answers visitors’ questions
- Suggests and sells wine and non-wine products to customers
- Handles POS transactions which include operating/closing/opening cash register, processing returns, discounts, etc.
- Provides direction to the Tasting Room team to increase productivity when TR Manager is away

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience of customer service
- Experience in a wine tasting environment required
- Must be 21 years of age in order to pour, serve, and taste wine
Certificates and Licenses
- Responsible Beverage Service certificate required. Delicato will pay for upon hire
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- In-depth knowledge of wine, food, and pairings
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment to achieve department and Company goals
- Proven ability to effectively communicate and provide exceptional customer service to diverse groups
- Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor
- Meets changing priorities in the workplace with flexibility and enthusiasm
- Solution-oriented and resourceful problem-solving skills in a fast-paced work environment
- Proficient in retail software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Outlook, Excel) Basic business math skills

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
