Customer Marketing Manager

Position Purpose

Acting on own initiative, the Customer Marketing Manager is responsible for developing winning retail strategies and key customer plans that generate demand in order to achieve annual performance plan. This position will develop both long-term and short-term strategic plans to meet the diverse needs of our top key National Account customers and across all channels of business for the state of Texas. With a primary focus of growing the Delicato and Transcendent Wine Portfolios. This role must interface, influence and provide input for the National Account and TX Sales Teams as well as the Brand Marketing teams within Delicato, as well as our top National Account customers, with the goal of exceeding business plan and performance objectives.

Functional Responsibility

Essential Duties

  • Must possess in-depth knowledge of National Account customer and shopper marketing insights, strategies and tactics
  • Leads strategic discovery and negotiate through to production joint supplier programs with other CPG companies to develop customer specific programming that align with the accounts programming goals, as well as Delicato Family Wines
  • Acting on own initiative develops, provides input and present (major markets) key Brand Marketing objectives, priorities and programs during sales distributor joint business planning meetings
  • Interfaces with the corresponding National Account Sales team leads to develop customized 360 customer and shopper activation solutions for growing the business
  • Acts as a thought leader in program ideation working directly with key customers digital and marketing teams
  • Ability to coordinate, leverage and tune national programs to fit key National Account customers customer and shopper strategies, to drive consistent brand messaging and activation at retail
  • Presents and pitches relevant marketing programs with key customers and actions corresponding follow-up
  • Collaborates with internal Brand, Trade and Marketing Services Team’s in order to move Trade Marketing activation elements from ideation to execution
  • Monitors adherence to spend within project budgets as set by Zone Sales, Customer Marketing, Brand and Trade Marketing budgets
  • Strategically plans, monitors and ensures volume advantage against major chain activation vehicles and offers, i.e., Vestcom, News America, Catalina
  • Collaborates with Business Development team to incorporate key fact based selling insights in presentations and communication pieces, in order to help sell
  • Evaluates effectiveness of trade spend at retail accounts

Non-Essential Duties

  • Assist with other Marketing initiatives upon request
  • Attends relevant customer events
  • Attends and participates in divisional, national and global sales meetings
  • Leads National Account Marketing updates during monthly Sales Strat Account calls
  • Leads National Account Marketing updates during monthly regional Trade Marketing conference calls
  • Attend and participate and provide relevant presentation materials for monthly Marketing Team Meetings and weekly Trade Marketing Team meetings

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing, or related field required
  • MBA a plus
  • 4+ years of wine supplier and/or distributor experience in selling wine, building brands, and conducting customer calls  

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must possess excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skillset with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Must possess in-depth working knowledge of wine and the wine industry 
  • Strong communicator and negotiator
  • Ability to work independently and build relationships
  • Expertise in E-Commerce and digital shopper platforms
  • Experience utilizing data from Nielsen and other sources
  • Strong budget management, project management, analysis and reporting skills

Working Conditions

Office environment with travel. Required to talk & listen. May need to determine color, taste and smell of wine using eyes, tongue, and nose. Must be able to lift & carry cases of wine (35 lbs.) to build customer wine displays. May be exposed to weather-related temperature & humidity extremes. Operates keyboard & mouse.
